From Matt’s diary…
Saturday 9th January

I’m mentally preparing for my return to Cranmer. It concerns me that Anna and I haven’t made love for a while. It doesn’t help that she goes to bed earlier than me these days. The lure of Match of the Day was stronger tonight. That’s a worry. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. The lure of Songs of Praise is not so strong.

Matt on… Marriage

Q: What would you say to the spouse of someone about to enter vicar training?

Matt: Don't suffer alone. Surround yourself with people going through the same thing and make time to share with them. They will understand. Be very honest with yourself, your spouse/friends/family about how you REALLY feel. Remember it’s your calling too. Don't become isolated. Communication. Communication. Communication. Find time to pray/laugh/party/make love. And only make quiche if you want to. You are you. Be that person.

What others say…

‘Refreshingly honest, frequently hilarious and genuinely moving, Becoming Reverend is a surprising and inspiring read. Even if you think church isn’t for you – in fact, especially if you think that – this book probably is.’
